  • JKilroy: Until recently, people that were laid off could get 99 weeks of unemployment, i think that was extended because of the bad ecomomy.
    July 26, 2010, 11:26:59 PM
  • Magnet: i thought we had a spot where we could talk about topics unrelated to fly fishing. i want to talk about unemployment and how it is being abused. there is too much fraud in the system. many of us scrounge to find time to fish while the freeloaders are leisurely doing what they want on our dime.

  • sholgate: Really enjoying the change of species.  Sometime the bass are tough too.  Looking forward to fall trout already.

  • AaronJasper: On our way home from the Farmington... Fished some areas for the first time this year. You can't beat it for milage of accessible trout water!

  • sholgate: According to USGS, Phila. got 8.51".  As of this morning the Tully is running at 1190 cfs.  That should knock out some of that stream weeds.
    July 16, 2010, 07:17:52 AM
  • AaronJasper: 7 inches! Ouch, I wish that we would get a half inch every other day! that would be just the right amount...
    July 15, 2010, 09:09:15 PM
  • sholgate: Not to mention how much of the algae has been moved.  It is all good.  We got 7 inches of rain.  Not sure why here, hardly anywhere else has even close to that. But a blessing.
    July 15, 2010, 08:15:42 PM
  • big south: Swollen rivers are good for the trout too, is how silt gets removed for better spawning.
    July 15, 2010, 03:22:17 PM
  • sholgate: Silly Aaron, my family on both sides are farmers. I know we needed the rain.  I was in the lower end of the Tully yesterday am.  It went from about 400 cfs to 2000 in about 30 minutes.  (I was fishing for bass.)
    July 15, 2010, 07:31:52 AM
  • AaronJasper: Steve... I wish that we had shots of rain every day. We need it really bad. I know that on some streams the trout are having a real tough time.
