anyone check out the March Brown Fly Rod booth?  They  will be offering 10' 3wts ,12' 2 wts and  a 12' 5wt, multi piece IM6 rods.  each rod  comes with a life time, no fault warranty.

One more day! Then it's back to fishing as usual.

I received a lot of e mails over the last two days. I promise that I will get back to every single one in the next few days. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on that one.

I hope to see a few more of you guys today

Lopat...

What are your thought on how George ties in his flies?  All in a row.  I went to a workshop of his, I tried tying in the flies that way and I did not have the same success as tags.
Well, it definitely seems to work for him.  I think I'll stick with what I know for now.

Funny I met another guy on the Tully that tied them in all in a row.   It just does not seem to work for me.

It was great meeting you today Aaron. I really enjoyed your presentation as well as watching you tie those flies. BTW, what did you say that iridescent ribbing was on the nymphs? If you're ever down in SE PA and wouldn't mind some company on the stream, just let me know.

Thanks again,
Len

Len,

Of all the people that I spoke to this weekend. I was really excited to meet you and your father. It's not normal, but it should be to see someone your age excited about fly fishing! I am happy that you are having success, and remember, it only gets better... And the fish get bigger too.

It's a Fly D and K product called quill body.

Great to meet you this weekend Aaron. Enjoyed your talk, can't wait to try out the nymphing techniques with my new Greys streamflex 10' 4wt.

Who saw sweet new vise put out by the Swiss company. Great design and engineering, a little out of my price range though.

Aaron gave a great talk on Saturday, the room was packed with a few people coming in late, seeing the size of the crowd and leaving.  Next year he'll be in one of the big rooms downstairs.  Lots of great seminars, I spent most of my day sitting in those, really a bargain for the price.  Checked out the Greys Streamflex, will be ordering mine in the next week or so.  Bought some euro nymphing books and dvds.  Was disappointed that there weren't more local destinations with booths.  Anyone with a good suggestion of a weekend type trip with more to do than fishing (taking the wife along) for the fall?

every time i swung by aaron's podium  there was a crowd of guys asking him about keough saddles... ::)

any of you other geeks cast Thomas n Thomas' new soon to be released TnT model ? me, i monkeyed around with the 6 and the 8. not your med action nymphing sticks; rather, the ideal rod for walking up to the river, hurling a frozen rope to the cross bank and hooking the fish behind the dude glaring at you.

light, smooth, creamy even, and with a hidden third nad. any of youse that get wood waving a Scott S4S or Sage TCX would go blind holding one of these.

T&T creamy?   Dood, yer skeerin me!

Seriously, I waved the 6wt a couple of times and it IS a rocket!  I'm sorry I didn't get to cast the 8wt, I'm looking for something to back up my ancient GLX.  Craig, what did you think of the 8?

TnT make some great rods.  My favorite rod maker by far. I'm gonna have to stop by the Huff's shop to check this thing out.
Live, learn, and then get Luvs.

meester hopper,

the 8 was swell, but i'm not an 8 kinda guy. for me most good 7s will do an 8's job.  but anyway,  back to the TnT 8... everything was fine 'til Jon muddied the water by showing me the #9 label on the rod. then he says it's missed labeled. he was fckn wid me... i think. it felt like an 8 to me. light without being scary light as with some modern marvels. i do not like super light rods. where the weight is matters much more to this stick waver.

we were throwing a wulff line. not the tradtional triangle taper, some other model. the head was too short for my liking. but hey, it was a new line, all slippery and shooty. you know Jon, he likes to throw frozen ropes while i being nearly twice his age like to pace myself a bit. we get it done differently, but still enjoy similar rod qualities. our line choices are different. but he has to sell stuff...

so the 8, is it a bass bug rod ? nah, i think the 7 would be better for that.  but for Peacock Bass, sure. .. smaller Dorado, in my wet-dreams !!

not tippy rods these TnTs. a nice even bend from what i could feel during my casts and observe when Jon was casting. both rods came straight right quick. the 8 we had outdoors so we could throw line. the 6 i cast only inside at that poor excuse for a casting pond. and by the way, WTF is up with Chuck and his hate for casting ponds ?!!

the 6 was crazy sweet. swiss miss, the real Swiss Miss sweet... with more than a touch of St. Pauli Girl. the 6 and the 8 shared the same feel. i cast the 6 with a 6 line as well as a 5 line. the rod cast more line than i was borrowing. once again i missed my longer head line.  a steelhead taper  woulda' been fun.

howz that for a useless review. not a question. though here's one: what will you be doing with the 8?

out on the market in the spring they say. maybe a separate, all it's own #5....

you wanna buy my ol' Ron Kusse graphite 8 ? itsa 2 pc. sounds sexy, it is.

What do I do with my 8?  Salmon, son.  Salmon.  It's also been pressed into service for sea trout and being the biggest rod I own, even the occasional quest for striped basses.
