28.5 Farmington rainbow
« on: July 23, 2010, 12:41:43 AM »
Hit the river with Kurt around 3pm. Arrived at our first spot with intentions of fishing on top with isos. Some caddis were being taken close to the banks but we chose to nymph. On my fifth drift I hooked a large fish that came to the surface and revealed its back. This fish was deep, I think Kurt got a better look at first and shouted that is huge. As the battle progressed I got a view of the length and got a little shaky. Granted this was a big stocked fish it still got the blood pumping. The landing was awkward do to the sheer size of the fish but none the less kurt got it to the bank. After that we went up stream a ways where I landed a 19 inch brown and Kurt took a 18 incher on the surface. We later meet up with Tommy and fished some big streamers in low light. We managed a few more fish in the 17-18 inch range. It was a good day on the river. Its now 1:30 am and Im going to crash.

Amazing.  I have to admit, I don't even think I have seen a trout that large.

Congrats.

Awesome fish!  The mean scowl in the picture makes it look even bigger ;D
As far as fishermen go, Captain Ahab was pretty tame.
